Two-storey rear extension from demo to completion including landscaping works to the rear, side and front of the property. Shou Sugi Ban cladding (a nod to the black cladding seen on the fishing huts in Hastings Old Town) will wrap around the curved walls for an ultra-modern look, with timber reveals into crittal style windows. This will contrast the existing period home. The same idea will exist internally with a modern feel with sharp, clean edges against bare plaster walls. A bespoke staircase will take you from ground floor dining to a basement snug area with stove for cosy winter nights.
Appointed as main contractor this will have its challenges; the access is poor with a large gradient to the side of the house as it drops down to have a rear basement. There will be extensive digging out underneath an existing propped conservatory. Planning constraints are also apparent and nearby tree roots to be aware of.
We are excited to get started on this project as the design allows us to be creative and use some different materials. We were involved early on with the design and can’t wait to see the end product.
